Diana Zulu is a former pupil at Shine Zambia Reading Academy. She is 23 years old and currently studying Nursing at Eden University in Lusaka. She will be graduating in May this year.

“Shine gave me the greatest gift any child can get and that is an education, something no one can take from me. I completed the program at Shine Zambia in 2010 and later started getting sponsorship from a family based in the UK”, she said.
When asked why she chose to study Nursing, Diana says she wanted to look after her chronically sick mother and to give back to her community by taking care of the sick.

“Some of the challenges affecting girls in my community include teenage pregnancies and child marriages. I would like to work closely with my community in Mtendere East to encourage girls to stay in school and achieve their goals in life”, she said.
Diana’s success story is evidence of the importance of education and of the impact the Shine program is having. Shine is working hard to reach out to orphans and vulnerable children and give them an opportunity to access quality education so they too can achieve their dreams.
